The story
Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier is an expert in high-end mechanical movements, supplying the world's most prestigious watchmaking brands. Managing and monitoring load/capacity is a core challenge in their supply chain and before Oplit, it relied entirely on a manual Excel file that required over an hour of work every week to maintain, handled by a single person, with a significant risk of errors.
The challenge
Before Oplit, Vaucher's load/capacity management relied entirely on a manual Excel file. Updates were done once a week, took over an hour, were handled by a single person, and carried a real risk of error. On more than one occasion, the team was convinced they were on track to hit their weekly targets for a specific machine group, only to discover they were not. Planning was opaque, fragile, and entirely dependent on one individual keeping a complex spreadsheet up to date.
Oplit's approach
Oplit replaced the Excel file with a live load/capacity simulation that updates automatically. What previously took over an hour now happens in minutes, with no manual input, no risk of human error, and full team visibility. Updates that were previously done once a week are now available daily across the entire team.
The solution is used by 6 collaborators 2-3 times per week, and by the production manager on a daily basis. Load/capacity simulations are shared with the entire team every day, making it possible, for the first time, to share the factory's global workload with everyone involved. The scheduling and monitoring of under-capacity and overload situations has become a core part of daily operations.
During budget planning, Vaucher now uses Oplit to run capacity simulations for both headcount and equipment. This allows them to correctly size their workforce and confirm whether new equipment investments are needed, replacing guesswork with data-driven decisions.
